‘Tis the Season to be Thankful – November is, of course, our month of obligatory thankfulness. People pass the time by posting the sources of their gratitude on social media. Children write lists of reasons they are thankful on school…

Washcloth Teddy Bear DIY

This Washcloth Teddy Bear is so easy to make and just adorable! We will be making these with our youth group this Sunday evening to add to our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse. Married in High School – Now Celebrating Six Months

My teenage daughter, who was married in high school, has now been married for six months (actually about 6 1/2 months at this point because I'm way behind on this post). In my last post about the couple, I tricked you into thinking you would get some really profound, further explanation about their wish to marry at such a young age. However, when questioned, all my daughter could come up with was that she just "really likes him." Since I left you hanging on that cliff, I do think it's about time we delved further into spiritual discernment, today's dating culture, and the really hysterical comments one school official had to offer.

Levi Coffin House: Hoosier History of Racial Harmony

You will not find a finer example of historic preservation in Indiana than the Levi Coffin House. This nugget of Hoosier history was restored to its 19th-century splendor many years ago and has been maintained through the years mostly by the dedication of devoted volunteers. This National Historic Landmark located in Fountain City, Indiana (formerly known as the town of Newport in Levi Coffin's day) was once considered Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad because of the more than 1000 slaves who passed through the house during their escape to freedom.

The Truth About Tithing: I’m Struggling to Pay My Bills, and You’re Telling Me to Give More?

The Truth About Tithing - I know some say they can't afford to tithe. I would challenge anyone that you really can't afford not to tithe. Tithing opens the door for God to pour out his blessings on you and provide for all your needs. It's surrendering that 10% with the trust that God is big enough to meet your needs.

I’m struggling to pay my bills, and you’re telling me the way to have more is to give more? I realize that’s a question many people ask when they seriously start to consider tithing. Tithing is one of the…

My Daughter Was Married in High School

Our oldest daughter was recently married while still in high school. I know that sparks curiosity from some people, and that's understandable. It also, for some reason, sparked hostility from some people. I understand folks being curious, but the hostility was not something I anticipated.
